Junior Logan Hugo hit a grand slam for Eastern Michigan University, but the team fell to Michigan State University with a score of 9-8 in their final non-conference baseball game of the season. The match took place on Tuesday, May 14, at McLane Stadium.

Senior Isiah Lindsey provided strong relief pitching for the Eagles, allowing just one run over three innings and striking out three batters. Glenn Miller was another standout player for Eastern Michigan, recording three hits including two doubles and a home run. Brendan Kleiman contributed with two hits and an RBI double.

The Eagles were trailing 2-0 in the second inning when Kleiman's RBI double brought them onto the scoreboard. Despite falling behind again as Michigan State extended their lead to 5-1, Eastern Michigan narrowed the gap with Miller's solo home run in the third inning.

Eastern took a brief lead in the fourth inning after Hugo's grand slam put them ahead 6-5. However, they could not maintain this advantage as Michigan State regained control. The Eagles managed to score two more runs in the eighth inning but ultimately could not overcome their deficit.

Notable performances included Miller hitting his first home run of the season and Hugo achieving his 11th homer of the year with his grand slam. The team also matched their season-high record by drawing eight walks during the game.

The contest marked the 141st meeting between Eastern Michigan and Michigan State, leaving EMU with a historical record of 58-81-2 against MSU. This game was also EMU's 394th against a Big Ten opponent.

Looking ahead, Eastern Michigan will conclude their season with a series against Northern Illinois University from May 16 to May 18.
