The Eastern Michigan University rowing team participated in the Head of the Charles Regatta held on the Charles River in Boston, Massachusetts, over the weekend of October 19-20. This event marked a milestone for the Eagles as they competed in the Championship Fours category for the first time, having been selected through a lottery system.
In addition to their debut in the Championship Fours, Eastern's rowing team took part in the Club Eights race for its sixth consecutive year. The Club Eights event occurred on Saturday, October 19, where they finished 25th out of 42 teams. The following day, Sunday, October 20, saw them placing 18th in a competitive field for the Championship Fours.
The results from these events were notable. In the Women's Championship Four race, Eastern Michigan secured an 18th place finish with a time of 19:48.843. Other competitors included Columbia with a leading time of 17:50.546 and Penn AC clocking at 17:56.065.
Meanwhile, in the Women's Club Eight race, Eastern Michigan finished with a time of 17:40.212, placing them at number 25 out of 42 entries. Yale led this category with an impressive time of 15:57.855.
Eastern Michigan University's rowing lineups featured Tatum Nettle as coxswain alongside rowers Lily Wilhelm, Emma Wyss, Bryah Moriarty, and Abbi Lauth in the Championship Four boat. The Club Eight lineup was comprised of coxswain Ella Warrick and rowers Gabby Charvat, Madison Lisitsin, Natalie Prairie, Ellie Latunski, Maggie Mueller, Brooke Karesh, Abigail Tirollo and Megan Fowler.
Looking ahead to future competitions after their participation at Head of the Charles Regatta will be Eastern's hosting duties at Ford Lake Shore Race scheduled for Saturday October 26th; marking their inaugural fall competition at newly constructed EMU Rowing Course located on Ford Lake.
