Eastern Michigan University's cross country teams are preparing for dual competitions at the Arturo Barrios Invitational and Falcon Invite on October 18. The men's team will participate in an 8k race, while the women's team will compete in a 6k race at both events.

The Arturo Barrios Invitational is hosted by Texas A&M University at the Watts Cross Country Course, with the men's race starting at 8:30 a.m. CT (9:30 a.m. ET) and the women's race beginning at 9:15 a.m. CT (10:15 a.m. ET). The Falcon Invite takes place at Bowling Green State University's Mel Brodt Cross Country Course, where the women's race is scheduled for 4:30 p.m., followed by the men's race at 5:10 p.m.

Both Eastern Michigan teams hold rankings in the Great Lakes Region according to the United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). As of October 7, the women are ranked No. 11 and the men No. 13.

Reflecting on past performances, both teams last participated in these meets on October 13, 2023. The women finished ninth in both events, while the men placed 21st at Texas A&M but did not compete in Bowling Green.

In their most recent competition on October 4 at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational, Eastern Michigan's men secured third place in the gold division 8k with Sam Peterson and Ty Dailey leading with close finish times of 24:24.5 and 24:24.6 respectively. The women's team came in fifteenth place in their division.

Looking ahead, Eastern Michigan will host its EMU Fall Classic on October 25 at Hudson Mills Metropark in Dexter, Michigan.
