The Eastern Michigan University (EMU) volleyball team is gearing up for a significant four-match homestand in Ypsilanti, Michigan. The Eagles, who have recently secured victories in seven of their last ten matches, will face Northern Illinois University on Thursday, October 17, and the reigning Mid-American Conference (MAC) champions, Western Michigan University, on Friday, October 18.

Supporters can track the games through live streaming and statistics available on EMU's official volleyball schedule page. Updates will also be shared via the team's social media platforms.

The upcoming match against Northern Illinois marks the 69th meeting between the teams since their first encounter in 1980. EMU has a historical record of 29-39 against NIU and last defeated them at home in 2019 with a clean sweep. The confrontation with Western Michigan will be their 98th meeting; EMU last won against them in 2018.

This season has been promising for EMU volleyball under Head Coach Kevin Foeman. The team surpassed its win total from last year by achieving its eleventh victory after defeating Bowling Green on October 10. This success follows a three-match winning streak reminiscent of their 2018 season when they claimed the MAC Tournament Championship.

In national rankings, Eastern stands out in six statistical categories. Notably, they rank second nationally in total blocks with 214.5 and are positioned within the top-50 across various other metrics.

Individually, several players have earned accolades for their performances. Senior Hannah Blaney ranks twelfth nationally in digs and first within the MAC this season. Freshman Hatteras Welker leads in blocks within the conference and has received recognition as MAC Defensive Player of the Week alongside Blaney.

Looking ahead, Eastern aims to continue its strong performance with upcoming matches against Ohio University later this month.

Fans are encouraged to stay engaged throughout the season by following EMU Volleyball on social media for updates and insights into each game.
