Eastern Michigan University Head Men's Golf Coach Andy Walker has announced the addition of Brodie Ferguson from Oakura, New Zealand, to the 2024-25 roster. Ferguson is set to compete for the Eagles in the upcoming fall season.
"We are very excited to add world-class golfer Brodie Ferguson to our roster for this upcoming season," Walker said. "Brodie has played some phenomenal golf this past year and solidified himself as one of the best amateurs in New Zealand. He will add length to a team already full of bombers, and with his ability to shoot low scores, he will add to the depth of this new team. I can't wait to have Brodie start with us this week as we prepare for the new era of Eastern Golf."
In 2024, Ferguson participated in 10 events in New Zealand, winning one and placing among the top 10 seven times. He secured victory at the North Island U19 event and was runner-up four times, including at the Taranaki Stroke Play, South Island U19, Auckland Stroke Play Championship, and Tieke Stroke Play. Additionally, he competed in four professional events, including the New Zealand Stroke Play where he placed 10th overall. As a member of the New Plymouth Boys' High School team, Ferguson was named Golfer of the Year three times and won the Super 8 title twice.
Ferguson is one of seven newcomers joining EMU's program for the 2024-25 season. The other recruits include Timothy Chan (Hong Kong), Pietro Fenoglio (Italy), Rory McDonald O'Brien (England), Daniel Robles Delval (Spain), Bavake Sihota (Canada), and Lucas Hughes (USA).
The Eagles will open their 2024-25 campaign at the Southern Dunes Collegiate on September 9-10 at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Course in Maricopa, Arizona.
