Eastern Michigan University (EMU) has appointed Andrew DiTullio as an assistant baseball coach, Head Coach Robbie Britt announced on Wednesday, August 14. DiTullio joins the Ypsilanti-based team with four years of coaching experience across various levels of the sport, most recently serving as the hitting coach at Division II Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU).
"We're excited to welcome Andrew to our program," said Britt. "He brings a wealth of experience developing student-athletes at a multitude of levels. We're excited for our student-athletes to work with someone who has a high care level for people and is committed to developing leaders both on and off the field."
During his tenure at SNHU, DiTullio managed an offense that had only three returning starters from the previous season. Despite this challenge, he coached four all-conference selections and four all-region honorees, one of whom earned Division II NCAA All-American status. His efforts contributed significantly to the Penmen's victory in the NCAA Division II East Regional and their advancement to the Division II College World Series.
DiTullio's offensive strategy led to impressive statistics: a .299 batting average, .452 slugging percentage, .412 on-base percentage, and .864 OPS. His team also demonstrated discipline with nearly a one-to-one walk-to-strikeout ratio while stealing 135 bases. Notably, players Jorge Burgos and Nater Wachter set records for home runs in a single season and freshman home runs respectively.
Before joining SNHU, DiTullio worked as a rehab hitting coach for the Minnesota Twins' Florida Complex League (FCL) team from 2021-2023. He was responsible for creating individualized practice plans that significantly reduced strikeout and chase percentages by over 20 percent from the 2021 seasons.
A graduate of the University of Central Florida (UCF), DiTullio has also assisted MLB players such as Royce Lewis, Alex Kirilloff, and Jorge Polanco during his time with the Twins. Additionally, he achieved a 100-percent success rate on player plan goals for FCL players under his direct supervision.
DiTullio's prior roles include assistant coaching positions at Florida Atlantic University in late 2021 and Hartford Community College from July 2020 to September 2021. At Hartford Community College, he led an offense that posted strong batting statistics and guided them to participate in the Junior College World Series.
Furthermore, DiTullio has experience as a hitting and pitching instructor at Absolute Sports Performance where he employed advanced technologies like Hittrax, Rapsodo, K-vest, and slow-motion video analysis.
DiTullio holds a bachelor's degree in Integrated Studies from UCF and has served his community as a firefighter after earning his Firefighter Certification from Indian River State College in 2020.
