The temptations to perform with EMU Marching Band during halftime show

Eastern Michigan University (EMU) has announced a special halftime show featuring the renowned vocal group, The Temptations, performing alongside the EMU Marching Band. This event is scheduled for October 12 during the EMU football game against Miami University at Rynearson Stadium. Jawan M. Jackson, an EMU alumnus and Detroit native who joined The Temptations in 2022, will also perform.

"Hosting The Temptations in collaboration with students in the 130th Anniversary Season of the EMU Marching Band doubles down on the vision that guides us all at Eastern Michigan University: to provide student-centered, high-quality academic programs with significant community impact," said J. Nick Smith, Associate Director of Bands and Director of Athletic Bands at Eastern. "This collaboration marks a once-in-a-lifetime experience for our marching band students that will create ripples through our Ypsilanti community to our 'sister city,' Detroit."

Tickets for this event are available now at EMUEagles.com/tickets or by calling the EMU Ticket Office at 734-487-3669. Advance tickets start at $20, while group tickets for 15 or more individuals start at $8 per person. Limited experience packages, including a pregame brunch with The Temptations, are also available.

The Temptations have significantly impacted music history with their contributions to R&B and soul music since emerging in the 1960s with Motown Records. Known for their harmonies and choreography, they have sold tens of millions of albums and received numerous accolades, including four Grammy Awards and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Entering its 130th season, the "Pride of the Peninsula" band consists of diverse graduate and undergraduate students from various academic majors across EMU. The university is celebrating its 175th anniversary this year with various events throughout the academic year.

Season tickets for EMU's 2024 home football schedule remain on sale offering perks such as VIP seating and parking privileges.

Founded in 1849, Eastern Michigan University serves over 13,000 students across more than 300 majors through its various colleges. National publications regularly recognize EMU for its excellence in education.

Eastern Michigan University has been a member of the Mid-American Conference since 1971 and boasts numerous championships and titles in athletics.
