Eastern Michigan University (EMU) and Marshall University announced on Tuesday, Aug. 6, that their football programs will renew a non-conference series that has been dormant since 1998. Eastern Michigan will travel to Huntington, West Virginia, during the 2026 season on Sept. 26, and Marshall will return to Ypsilanti during the 2028 campaign on Sept. 23.
Overall, Marshall and Eastern Michigan have played four times with Marshall winning three of the previous matchups. The series began in 1983 with EMU recording a 7-3 victory at Rynearson Stadium. The last meeting between the two teams was on Sept. 26, 1998, when Marshall secured a 26-23 win in Ypsilanti. Marshall was part of the Mid-American Conference (MAC) from 1997 to 2004 and is now part of the Sun Belt Conference.
EMU's non-conference schedule is listed through 2030. The Mid-American Conference schedule is typically released in early March.
With the season approaching, the EMU Ticket Office has announced the sale of ticket packages for the upcoming year. EMU's schedule includes six home games, with the first game on Maxx Crosby Field inside Rynearson Stadium set for Saturday, Sept. 14, against Jacksonville State University.
