Eastern Michigan University Head Women's Golf Coach Josh Brewer has announced the addition of freshman Mariana Vega to the roster for the 2024-25 season. Vega, hailing from Barranquilla, Colombia, brings a strong background in competitive golf.

Vega was previously a member of the Colombia National Junior Team and has achieved significant rankings: eighth in the Women's National Junior Ranking, 13th in the Women's National Amateur Ranking, and 888th in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR). Her accomplishments include winning the Copa Camilo Villegas Junior Championship in November 2023 and representing Colombia at both the National Championship Copa Sur in Mexico and the South American Amateur Open in Colombia. She holds a scoring average of 77.5 and has placed highly in several tournaments, including fifth place finishes at both the Nico Open AJGA and the Abierto Ciudad de Manizales.

"Mariana joins us from the rich women's golf country of Colombia," Brewer stated. "She has represented her club and country in many events during her young career. I want to thank her and her family for believing in what we are building at Eastern. I must also thank her national Coach, Paola, for trusting us with one of their elite prospects. We expect Mariana to be an important piece of our foundation as we become a staple in the postseason."

Vega will join sophomore Savannah De Bock from Belgium and senior Amaya Melendez from Ann Arbor, who have already committed to EMU.
