On July 19, 2023, the House Appropriations Committee passed the 2024 budget for the Department of the Interior. Included in the package is more $3 million secured by Congressman John Moolenaar that will be used by the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe to improve water infrastructure in the community.

“I am proud to support the people of the Saginaw Chippewa Tribe with funding for these critical infrastructure projects. These projects are vital to improve the fresh water and wastewater facilities the Tribe relies on every day. I will continue to advocate for funding projects across the Second District, and I encourage leaders interested in projects for their communities to reach out to my office,” said Moolenaar.

The requests are $1,681,600 for the improvement of the wastewater facility, and $1,480,000 to replace freshwater infrastructure. Congressman Moolenaar is the only member from Michigan on the House Appropriations Committee.
