Congressman John R. Moolenaar | Rep. John R. Moolenaar Official U.S House Headshot
Congressman John Moolenaar has voted for two bills that would stop the Biden administration's attempts to limit the sale of gas stoves. In January, the White House said President Biden does not support banning gas stoves. Nevertheless, in February, the Department of Energy proposed a new regulation that would limit the sale of gas stoves.
"President Biden's overreaching policies are targeting the gas stoves thousands of Michigan residents rely on and like having in their homes. His administration should abandon its rulemaking and let Americans choose the stoves that are best for them and where they live. President Biden’s energy policies have hurt our country and made energy more expensive. That is why I voted to stop him from banning new gas stoves," said Moolenaar.
H.R.1615, the Gas Stove Protection and Freedom Act, passed the U.S. House of Representatives on Tuesday with a 248-180 vote. This legislation would prevent any federal funds from being used to ban gas stoves. H.R.1640, the Save Our Gas Stoves Act, passed the U.S House of Representatives on Wednesday with a 249-181 vote. This legislation would block the rule recently proposed by Department of Energy’s that would limit the sale of gas stoves.
