Approximately one week from On May 25, the United States is expected to default on its debt. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, a Biden appointee, says the government will not be able to pay all of its bills on June 1.

"For four months, President Biden has jeopardized the credit of the United States and refused to work across the aisle to address the national debt. He ignored repeated calls for negotiations and now, he is one week away from putting Michigan families through a disastrous default. I voted to avoid a default and responsibly cut COVID spending that is sitting in departments in Washington D.C. Biden must follow Republicans’ lead and come to an agreement to avoid a disastrous default," said Congressman John Moolenaar.

According to the latest CNN poll, sixty percent of Americans agree with Republicans’ plan to responsibly avoid a default.
