Downtown Parking Enforcement Update:

Based on the 2/27/23 City Commission work session the following was agreed upon regarding downtown parking enforcement. 

1. No enforcement of on-street parking (no change from 2019).-Except for “no parking” on downtown streets; 4 a.m. – 6 a.m.

2. No enforcement in municipal parking lots (no change from 2019).-Except for overnight permits and adherence to the "even/odd" overnight parking system.

3. ADA spaces (both on-street and municipal lots) will still be monitored for compliance (no change from 2019).-ADA spaces are not exempt from the "even/odd" overnight parking system rules.

-ADA spaces are not exempt from the no parking on downtown streets from 4 a.m. to 6 a.m. rule.

4. Elimination of daytime permits.-Refunds for daytime permits will be processed in the month of March.

5. Overnight permits are still required (no change from 2019).-For more information on the overnight "even/odd" parking system and to purchase overnight permits visit: https://www.mt-pleasant.org/.../down.../downtown.parking.asp 

6. Parking Signage-Install new signage at municipal parking lot entrances, planned for 2023.-Removal of signs referencing parking durations (1hr, 3hr, 10hr, etc.).-Overnight parking signs and ADA signs will remain in place.

7. Encourage the removal of restaurant patios in the winter months if not utilized by the businesses.
