Bragging on Shepherd Public School District for a second...
Yesterday an officer gained access to a school in Saginaw by driving their patrol vehicle through the front door after a hoax call about an active shooter. We not sure if the officer had keys to the school or not. To some the action might seem extreme, but not when you consider the fact that every second counts for these calls!
We're proud of the relationship we have with the schools and the fact we have keys/fobs to every building. In addition, we obtained key fobs to every SPS building for EVERY patrol vehicle at the Isabella County Sheriffs Office and for EVERY patrol vehicle for the Michigan State Police Mt. Pleasant Post. Soon we will have SPS key fobs in EVERY patrol vehicle for the Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Police Department.
We want our law enforcement partners to have that access when needed. We prepare as if it will happen and hope/pray it never happens.
