AQUATICS TIP TUESDAY!

AQUATICS TIP TUESDAY!

Did you know that only U.S. Coast Guard Approved Lifejackets/PFDs are allowed to be worn at the City Pool?

Child Water Wings are not typically U.S. Coast Guard Approved, before arriving for your day of swimming please check the label on the inside/outside of your child's Lifejacket/PFD to verify that it is indeed  U.S. Coast Guard Approved. Our Lifeguards will request to look at the label as well to verify that it is approved for use at the Pool.

The State of Michigan REQUIRES that any child under the age of 6 wear a U.S. Coast Guard Approved Type I or II Lifejacket/PFD while underway and riding in the open part of any boat, and we recommend the same thing for use here at the Pool.

Pictured below is a U.S. Coast Guard Approved Type II Lifejacket/PFD, notice it has the pillow on the back, which is designed to keep your childs face/head out of the water. When purchasing a Lifejacket/PFD for your child you should always look at the label to make sure you are selecting the correct size based on your child's weight.

The City Pool also has U.S. Coast Guard approved Lifejackets/PFD's for daily rent at a cost of $1.00 which you can purchase at the time of your arrival, supplies are limited.
