Op-ed: Lessons From Canada

I, like many of you, have been following the Canadian truckers’ Freedom Convoy closely. The protesters’ courage, unity, and unwavering sense of hope is truly a marvel to behold. They have literally linked arms, peacefully demonstrating in the face of tyranny: https://rumble.com/embed/vs625s/?pub=wmtwo

That right there is civil disobedience at its finest. The federal and provincial responses to the truckers is the first lesson we can learn from Canada: there is no plan in place to deal with peaceful, unified citizens. The Canadian elites arrogantly fixated on one strategy—scare, divide, and conquer. What the political elites did not expect was for Canadians to push back, especially as a unified front.

Their resistance has created a schism: the provincial premiers (the equivalent of our governors) are attempting to placate the citizenry, whereas the federal government is attempting to crush it. The premiers are paying lip service to Canadians wary of restrictions and mandates. Politically conservative provinces, including Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Quebec, are apparently ending some or all of their pandemic measures, even though they’ve been pushing restrictions from months. Meanwhile, the premier of Ontario Doug Ford—who just last week declared a state of emergency targeting the pro-freedom convoys—has now publicly stated that vaccines do not stop transmission and mandates should not determine employment. To anyone paying attention, these are obviously desperate and insincere attempts by the provincial governments to retain support among their citizens.

By now, I’m sure you’ve heard about Trudeau’s Valentine’s Day surprise to Canadians—the invoking of the Emergencies Act for the first time in the country’s history. Humor me and allow me to underscore its significance: this unilateral consolidation of power is the single most significant act a federal leader has ever performed. “Liberal” Trudeau and his cabinet have suspended the rights and freedoms granted to Canadians under their Charter and banished any impression that Canada is still a free democracy. The Canadian federal government can now instruct banks—so-called private institutions—to seize the funds of everyday peaceful and law-abiding citizens. Their crime? Disagreeing with their government. Fascism is the seamless merging of government and private corporations at the expense of the individual rights of citizens. On Valentine's Day 2022, fascism was born in Canada and its face is Justin “a Canadian is a Canadian is a Canadian” Trudeau.

The Canadian Civil Liberties Alliance has condemned Trudeau’s use of the Emergencies Act and is suing the government, arguing that the threshold of an emergency has not been met. Protests continue uninterrupted in small towns and cities alike. Provincial governments are speaking out against the unbelievable federal overreach. But the entire federal government doesn’t care. Completely overshadowed by Trudeau’s gross and fascistic overstep was a Valentine’s Day vote in the Canadian parliament. A motion was brought forth by the Conservatives to simply discuss the end of pandemic restrictions and the motion was defeated 151-185. Even though 54% of Canadians want the pandemic restrictions to end immediately, 55% of parliament won’t stoop so low as to even discuss the end posts. The question then becomes, if the federal government isn’t serving the people, who are they serving?

We can learn a second lesson from Canada, one that the freedom convoys and the subsequent policy fallout lay bare: governments are becoming increasingly irrelevant. The end result of the massive push toward globalization, the merging of government and private corporations through secret deals, and the frequent redistribution of taxpayer dollars abroad is to strengthen global institutions at the expense of national governments. As just one example, deputy prime minister Chrystia Freeland, who had the honor of announcing the fascist bank seizure policy at Trudeau’s historic press conference, serves on the World Economic Forum (WEF)’s Board of Trustees. Who do you think she is aligned to? Certainly not the people of Canada.

The fight in Canada is not between the provincial and federal governments, just as it really isn’t between the states and Washington DC in the United States. The fight is between the people—everyday citizens all over the world—and the WEF-globalists. Extra-national entities such as the WEF infiltrate nations, proudly proclaim their successes, and proceed to dictate national policy. The WEF wants the widespread implementation of a global digital ID system. To establish this system, they will use digital vaccination records, hence their cronies, such as Trudeau and the 185 autocratic members of Parliament in Canada, do everything they can to keep mandates and vaccine passports alive. As Rebel News’ Ezra Levant explains, the Canadian government—aka the WEF—wants to financially crush their enemies. Although their plans are transparent and entirely unoriginal, they are the ones that have the money, the power, and the mainstream message. But we are the David to this Goliath.

Convention of States (COS) and other grassroots political movements here in the United States must take these two lessons to heart: the political elites have no plan to counter the peaceful unification of citizens and the fight is not against the federal government, but the shadow entities that the federal government answers to. COS’s mission is to use Article V in order to restrain federal spending, impose federal term limits, and return stolen power back to the states. In particular, it takes aim at the relationship between DC and the global cabal. With common sense limits to federal spending, American taxpayers would no longer be the main and unwitting investors in ridiculous global initiatives. With term limits for Congressional members and Supreme Court justices, long-term lobbying campaigns and expansive globalist training programs, such as the WEF’s Young Global Leaders, would no longer be worth it. With the decentralization of power away from DC, these global entities would suddenly have 50 times as many executives, legislatures, and judiciaries to infiltrate. The closer power is to the people, the harder it is to harness under one, dictatorial banner.

Let me make one final observation about the first lesson learned from the protesters. There was zero consideration by the Canadian government that the people might come together peacefully against government overreach after two years of fear-mongering and divisiveness. Trudeau, the federal parliament, and the provincial governments were all blindsided by the protests, evidenced by their varied responses. Provincial premiers are walking back months of divisive rhetoric and policies, pretending that they’ve been on the side of the people all along. The federal parliament actually voted, on record, to ignore what is happening. And Trudeau has gone full-on fascist, arresting peaceful protesters, freezing assets, and putting the true intentions of his global overlords on display for the whole world to see. The peaceful unification of citizens—the coming together of We The People—drives a wedge in the lockstep approach of these petty tyrants and forces them all to prematurely show their hand.

This is the lesson that grassroots movements in the US should take away from the courageous Canadian truckers. This battle is not about political alignments, domestic policies, or past voting records. This battle is for the very essence of humanity: it is the global citizenry versus the global cabal. German attorney Reiner Fuellmich recognizes this battle for what it is and has organized a Grand Jury to hold the cabal accountable. As citizens and members of grassroots movements, we must reach out to our families, neighbors, and communities kindly, firmly, and with respect, encouraging them to open their eyes to what is truly going on. The cabal, in its infinite arrogance, doesn’t believe in the power of the human spirit. We must prove them wrong.
