Village of Edwardsburg issued the following announcement on July 26.
Saturday September 18th and Sunday September 19th
Dear Friend of the VFW,
You are invited to take part in the Edwardsburg VFW event that will feature the Michigan Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall. The memorial is dedicated to the memory of the 2,661 men and women of the State of Michigan who lost their lives in the Vietnam War. Their names are etched into the wall; a reminder that they will never be forgotten. The memorial is a reminder that Americans will “never forget” those who did not come home and a place of healing for those that returned with more baggage than they left with.
The Wall will be on display Sept 17th – 19th at the Edwardsburg VFW. There will be breakfast on both Saturday and Sunday and lunch on Saturday afternoon. There will be a 21-gun salute ceremony as well as other raffles and events.
The Edwardsburg VFW has been serving the area for 40 years as a nonprofit veteran’s service organization. The Edwardsburg VFW benefits local Veterans. The mission of the VFW is: To foster camaraderie among United States veterans of overseas conflicts. To serve our veterans, the military and our communities. To advocate on behalf of all veterans. The Vision of the VFW is to: Ensure that veterans are respected for their service, always receive their earned entitlements, and are recognized for the sacrifices they and their loved ones have made on behalf of this great country.
We are seeking donations for sponsors, raffles, silent auction, or help with the events. A gift card, a service item, sponsorship, or raffle basket items would be greatly appreciated. A donation of cash or raffle item of $100+ will include your name on our T-shirts.
For additional information or if you have questions, please contact Mike McKinley at 574-536-2630 or Steve Curtis at 269-357-1028. Items can be dropped off at the Post or we can arrange for them to be picked up.
Thank you,
