Career Quest Learning Center-Mt. Pleasant issued the following announcement on Mar. 18. 

Right now, residents in Lansing, Jackson, Mt. Pleasant, and all across Michigan are taking precautions to stay safe during the COVID-19 outbreak. They can rest assured knowing that healthcare professionals across the state are working hard to keep them healthy. However, doctors, nurses, and medical assistants are in limited supply.

Are you looking to rise to the occasion and enter a rewarding field in high demand? Career Quest Learning Centers provide healthcare career training for adults. Earn the certificate or degree necessary to aid your neighbors and keep your community healthy!

Our Healthcare Program: Degrees and Certificates

To enter the medical field, you need the right training. This industry requires a variety of skills, ranging from the technical to the interpersonal, all of which you’ll learn with us. Our healthcare program offers the following degrees and certificates:

  • Medical Assistant (8 months long): Work as a phlebotomy technician, EKG technician, laboratory assistant, and many more roles.
  • Medical Office Administration AAS (15 months long): Work behind the scenes in a doctor’s office or clinic.
  • Medical Billing & Coding (8 months long): Work as a medical office receptionist or a health insurance processor.
  • Ophthalmic Assistant (8 months long): Work in an eye care office with ocular imaging, basic eye exams, ocular pharmacology, and much more.
  • Certified Nurse Aide (3 weeks long): Work as a home health aide or in a retirement center.
Medical Billers & Coders Can Sometimes Work from Home

Given the nature of medical billing and coding work, which often deals in logistics and health insurance, such professionals can conduct much of their work from home!

Healthcare Workers Are Needed More Than Ever

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of healthcare occupations is expected to grow 14 percent between 2018 and 2028.1 Now especially, as we face global health risks, healthcare professionals are needed to keep communities safe.

Our healthcare program provides comprehensive training to be completed in just 8 to 15 months. In less than a year, you could be working a fulfilling new career and making a big impact in your community in the process.

Career Quest Advantages During COVID-19

At Career Quest, the health and safety of our students and their success go hand in hand. During the COVID-19 outbreak, we’ve taken extensive precautions to mitigate risk while continuing to provide the thorough education you deserve.

We’re offering full virtual instruction through the duration of the outbreak. Normally, we’re a commuter school with small class sizes of 25 students or less. Until further notice, we recently moved to full virtual instruction to help keep our students and their families (as well as our staff) healthy and safe.

We also offer financial assistance to all students who qualify. This financial aid includes loans and grants as well as a variety of discounts. Our dislocated worker discount, for example, offers a 15% tuition discount to eligible students who have been laid off or are dislocated stay-at-home parents.
