Eastern Michigan University's defensive lineman, Jefferson Adam, has been nominated for the 2025 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team. This announcement was made by Allstate and the American Football Coaches Association on July 15.
The nomination is part of a partnership between Allstate and the Wuerffel Foundation to align two prestigious college football honors: the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team and the Allstate Wuerffel Trophy. These awards recognize student-athletes who excel in community service, academics, and athletics.
A record-breaking 197 student-athletes were nominated this year, marking the highest number in the award's 34-year history.
Adam commented on his nomination by saying, "It's bigger than football. It's about setting an example." He has shown dedication as a student-athlete and leader in his community. Last season, he played all 12 games for Eastern Michigan University (EMU), achieving significant statistics including 25 tackles and 3.5 sacks.
Beyond his athletic achievements, Adam's journey to Division I football was challenging. He overcame being overlooked out of high school by transforming himself during the COVID-19 pandemic. His efforts led him from Hocking College to Iowa State and eventually to EMU.
Adam is also focused on academics and personal growth beyond sports. As a first-generation American with two younger brothers, he emphasizes discipline and goal-setting both on and off the field.
Since joining EMU, Adam has completed over 30 hours of community service through initiatives like EMU's Bright Futures Program at Perry Early Learning Center. His involvement includes reading to preschoolers and participating in literacy initiatives.
Additionally, Adam organized a children's book drive during EMU's Spring Game in 2024 that collected over 500 books for local schools—a testament to his commitment to education access.
The Allstate AFCA Good Works Team was established in 1992 to honor college football players' contributions off the field. A panel will select a final team of 23 members in September.
Other nominees from Mid-American Conference include Keylen Davis (Akron), Kiael Kelly (Ball State), Drew Pyne (Bowling Green), among others.
