Despite the conclusion of the collegiate season, Eastern Michigan University (EMU) women's golf team members are actively participating in various tournaments worldwide this summer.
Caterina Don, an assistant coach for the Eagles, made a significant impact at the 122nd Women's Amateur Championship held at Nairn Golf Course in Scotland from June 10-15. Competing against a field of 144 players, Don advanced to match play and reached the semifinals. In stroke play, she tied for 57th place with scores of 74-75=149, earning her spot in match play after six playoff holes as the No. 61 seed. Although Savannah de Bock did not advance past stroke play, tying for 100th place with scores of 76-77=153, Don progressed through several rounds. She defeated fourth-seeded Sara Brentcheneff (France), Andie Smith (USA), Camille Min-Gaultier (France), and Isla McDonald-O'Brien (England). Her journey ended in the semifinals against Paula Martin Sampedro from Spain, who later won the championship.
Meanwhile, three incoming EMU golfers performed well in competitions within their home countries earlier in June. Matilde Zocchi achieved top honors at the Chiocciola d'Oro Trophy in Cherasco, Italy, tying for medalist honors with scores of 72-71-71=214. In Thailand, Grace Thanintorndamrongdej participated in the SAT Nakhon Nayok Ladies Championship on the Thai LPGA Tour and tied for 74th place with scores of 81-74-78=233. Additionally, Ammy Raemmuang secured second place at the SAT-GPA Junior Tour Stop #6 with scores of 77-73-67=217.
The EMU women's golf team continues to showcase their skills and represent their university on international stages throughout the summer months.
