Eastern Michigan University (EMU) Athletics has announced the successful completion of the "Maxx Match" fundraising challenge. This initiative was launched in collaboration with NFL Pro Bowl star and EMU alumnus Maxx Crosby. The campaign inspired the EMU community to raise over $135,165 for EMU Football, which Crosby matched personally, resulting in a total impact exceeding $200,000 for the program.

The crowdfunding effort received strong support from various segments of the Eagle community. Alumni accounted for 58% of donors, followed by faculty and staff at 5%, parents at 3%, students at 2%, and friends of the program also at 2%.

"We are incredibly grateful to everyone who stepped up and contributed to the Maxx Match," stated Scott Wetherbee, EMU Vice President/Director of Athletics. "Maxx Crosby continues to lead by example. His commitment to our football program, our athletes, and this university is deeply inspiring. This challenge was about more than dollars raised—it was about uniting our community and investing in the future of EMU Football."

Crosby's involvement with EMU extends beyond fundraising; he has been appointed as Assistant General Manager of the EMU Football team. In this role, he will support recruiting efforts, player development, NIL strategy, and fundraising initiatives. This builds on a previous $1 million gift from Crosby to EMU Football in 2023.

The momentum around EMU Football is growing with new traditions being introduced alongside Crosby's leadership role and a successful spring season. Notably, the weakside defensive end position has been renamed "MAXX," with jersey No. 92 designated for the team's top edge rusher.

EMU Football Head Coach Chris Creighton remarked: "This is what belief looks like. Maxx is more than a great player—he's a great teammate, mentor, and leader. His impact will be felt on and off the field for years to come."
