Eastern Michigan University's baseball player, Drew Beckner, has been named to the 2025 MAC Baseball Championship Team. The announcement was made on Sunday, May 25.
Beckner, hailing from Westerville, Ohio, earned this recognition after a standout performance in Eastern's 10-7 extra-innings victory over Bowling Green State University on May 22. This win advanced the Eagles to the second round and marked their first postseason victory since 2017.
During the game, Beckner recorded eight strikeouts and pitched six innings despite challenging weather conditions. He allowed three runs off five hits while his pitch count exceeded triple digits. This performance was instrumental in EMU's first postseason upset since defeating Central Michigan University in a semifinal doubleheader on May 27, 2017.
Beckner's eight strikeouts were tied for the second-most he has achieved in a game this season. It also marked the first time an Eastern Michigan pitcher struck out at least eight batters in a MAC Tournament game since Brad Allen did so against Northern Illinois University on May 25, 2017.
Overall, Beckner led a pitching staff that posted the second-lowest ERA (5.54) and allowed the second-least runs (19), earned runs (16), and hits (31) during the tournament.
He becomes Eastern Michigan's 26th all-tournament player and is the first to earn this honor since Davis Feldman, Nick Jones, and Max Schuemann did so in 2017.
