The Eastern Michigan University rowing team participated in the Coastal Athletic Association Championships held at Cooper River Park in Pennsauken, New Jersey, on May 16-17. All of EMU's boats advanced to the Grand Finals on Saturday. Senior rowers Lily Wilhelm and Bryah Moriarty received All-CAA honors for their performances.
Wilhelm, from Noblesville, Indiana, was previously recognized in 2023 and became the fourth Eagle to earn multiple All-CAA recognitions. Other Eagles who have achieved this distinction include Emma Boersen (2021 and 2022), Amanda Flora (2017, 2018, and 2019), and Krista Burdick (2014 and 2015). Moriarty, hailing from Christchurch, New Zealand, earned her first All-CAA honor.
Northeastern University secured its eleventh consecutive CAA title. EMU placed seventh overall as an affiliate member of the CAA since the 2012-13 season. The competition consisted of heat races on Friday with the top three teams advancing to Saturday's Grand Finals.
EMU's First Varsity Eight (1V8) clocked a time of 7:05.133 in the Grand Final after recording a time of 7:01.818 during Friday's heat race. This marked EMU's best performance at the CAA Championships since achieving a time of 6:41.651 in 2022.
The Second Varsity Eight (2V8) improved by over eleven seconds from their heat race to finish with a time of 7:12.229 on Saturday, securing sixth place. This was their best showing at the CAA Championships since recording a time of 7:00.084 in 2022.
EMU's First Varsity Four (1V4) edged out Villanova University on Friday to advance to Saturday’s Grand Final, concluding with an eighth-place finish with a time of 8:22.531.
The Third Varsity Eight (3V8), which did not compete in a heat race on Friday, finished fourth in the Grand Final with a time of 7:28.108—its best CAA Championship performance since finishing in 7:26.928 in 2022.
This event marked EMU’s final participation as an affiliate member of the CAA as they will join the Mid-American Conference for rowing starting with the academic year of 2025-26.
