Eastern Michigan University (EMU) student-athletes have achieved a new academic milestone, setting a school record with a 3.472 cumulative GPA following the Winter 2025 semester. This marks the 31st consecutive semester where EMU student-athletes have maintained a cumulative GPA above 3.0.

The university's athletic department recorded a winter semester GPA of 3.465, which is the highest since records began in fall 1999, slightly surpassing the previous high of 3.404 from Fall 2023. The all-time best cumulative GPA of 3.472 exceeded the prior record of 3.438 set in Fall 2024.

Vice President/Director of Athletics Scott Wetherbee expressed pride in this achievement: "I'm incredibly proud of the academic performance of our student-athletes," he said. "This success reflects highly committed and hard-working student-athletes and our department's dedication to academic excellence."

A total of 86 EMU student-athletes achieved perfect GPAs last semester, with soccer leading with 14 students achieving this feat.

In addition, approximately 83.5 percent (400) of EMU student-athletes earned a GPA of at least 3.0 for the semester, and all but one sport had term GPAs above that threshold.

Soccer led all sports for the winter semester with a term GPA of 3.862 on EMU's scale, followed by lacrosse at 3.796 and gymnastics at 3.759.

Women's basketball (3.676), football (3.314), and soccer (3.862) surpassed their previous semester GPA records, while lacrosse (3.796) and volleyball (3.715) posted their second-best marks.

All nineteen teams posted cumulative GPAs above 3.0, with eighty-two percent of Eastern Michigan student-athletes maintaining a cumulative GPA above that mark as well.
