The Eastern Michigan University rowing team has achieved recognition with its 1V8+ boat being named the Coastal Athletic Association's Boat of the Week. The announcement was made by the CAA on Tuesday, May 6.

In a recent competition against Dayton on May 3, the 1V8+ secured a victory with a time of 7:13.5. This win marked Eastern's first race triumph of the season and contributed to a sweep over Dayton during Senior Day celebrations.

The team members included coxswain Ella Warrick from Livonia, Michigan, and rowers Bryah Moriarty from Christchurch, New Zealand; Abbi Lauth from Grosse Ile, Michigan; Lily Wilhelm from Noblesville, Indiana; Emma Wyss from Miamisburg, Ohio; Ellie Latunski from Grand Rapids, Michigan; Brooke Karesh from Zionsville, Indiana; Gabby Charvat from Three Rivers, Michigan; and Natalie Prairie from Clifton, Michigan.

This accolade marks the fifth time an Eastern boat has received the CAA Boat of the Week honor since it was established in 2017. The last recognition came after the MACRA Championships on April 30, 2019.

Looking ahead, Eastern Michigan will participate in the CAA Championships scheduled for May 16-17 in Pennsauken, New Jersey. This event will be their final appearance as an affiliate member of the CAA due to rowing being added to the Mid-American Conference for the upcoming academic year.
