Eastern Michigan University's baseball team faced Northern Illinois University in a doubleheader at Oestrike Stadium, resulting in a split. Eastern Michigan won the first game 13-3, while Northern Illinois secured victory in the second game with a score of 17-1.

In the opening game, Tyler Kapa, starting pitcher for Eastern Michigan, was credited with the win. Kapa's performance included allowing just two runs off four hits, striking out eight, and walking two over 6.1 innings. John Hale led the offense, going 3-for-3 with two walks and three RBIs. "Eastern struck first in the second inning," and "later in the inning, Hale drove in Bruce Jellison from second off an RBI-double," establishing an early lead. The team expanded its lead in the fourth inning, scoring eight runs to widen the margin to 10-1. In game two, the Huskies quickly established control, scoring three runs in the second inning. However, the Huskies scored 14 additional runs, including seven in the third inning, sealing their victory with a 17-1 score by the seventh inning under the 10-run rule.
