Savannah de Bock, a standout from the Eastern Michigan University (EMU) women's golf team, will make history as the first female member of the program to participate in an NCAA event. De Bock has been selected to compete in the 2025 NCAA Columbus Regional from May 5-7 in Columbus, Ohio. The regional competition will take place at Ohio State University’s Scarlet Course, which is a par-72 and 6,319-yard golf course. De Bock is one of six individuals joining 12 teams vying for qualification to the NCAA Championships scheduled for May 15-21 in Carlsbad, California.
Head Coach Josh Brewer, along with his new coaching staff, enters the 2024 season with high hopes. Brewer, formerly coaching at Georgia, appreciates the significance of this opportunity for de Bock: “Savannah de Bock is the first EMU woman to qualify for the NCAA Regional tournament.”
De Bock has accumulated accolades, including being named to the All-MAC First Team, a first for an EMU golfer since 2015. "Savannah de Bock has played 12-of-15 rounds under par, which was most of any player in the nation among all collegiate divisions," noted the press release from EMU Athletics.
The Columbus Regional will feature teams from various conferences. Among the competitors are Arkansas, LSU, and Ohio State, with UNLV, Kent State, and Xavier arriving as conference champions. A noteworthy participant from Arkansas is No. 4 ranked Maria Jose Marin.
During the 2025 MAC Championships in Muncie, Indiana, the Eagles placed third. De Bock and Julianna Go tied for 11th, contributing to a finish that significantly improved on the previous year’s performance. De Bock's personal record achievements include breaking EMU's best 54-hole tournament score multiple times.
De Bock’s qualification establishes her as a prominent figure in EMU and women's collegiate golf. Her skill and recent performances set an inspiring precedent for the program's future participants. In addition, EMU’s team plans to compete in the 2025 Women's National Golf Invitational, reflecting the program's growing prominence.
