Eastern Michigan University announced that it will conduct in-person tryouts for its 2025-26 cheer team. The tryouts are set for May 23 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and May 24 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the George Gervin GameAbove Center in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
Participants will need to pay a $20 fee. "Please bring either exact cash or a check made out to Eastern Michigan University," stated the announcement.
Once registered, athletes will receive an email containing a detailed schedule and required materials for the tryout. The event will focus on both tumbling and stunting skills. Tumbling preferences include techniques such as a standing tuck, cartwheel tuck, and round-off connected back handsprings. Stunting preferences include full-up, extended liberty, and other skills, some of which are required.
The university is seeking athletes who are "open-minded, eager to learn, and driven to improve." Attendees should wear practice attire in school colors and adhere to specific appearance guidelines. The effort aims to build a cohesive and dynamic cheer team for the upcoming academic year.
Registration for the tryouts is available through the provided Tryout Form link. "We can't wait to meet our future Eagles and welcome the 2025-26 EMU Cheer Team!" the announcement concluded.
