In Ypsilanti, Michigan, Eastern Michigan University (EMU) lacrosse team has emerged as a co-winner of the Mid-American Conference (MAC) title for the first time. The Eagles concluded the 2025 regular season in a three-way tie for the MAC title, sharing the honor with the University of Akron and Robert Morris University. The decisive games took place on Sunday, April 27, with EMU sealing its 4-2 MAC conference record through a 16-12 victory over Akron. Following a 13-11 win by Akron over Robert Morris, all three teams ended the season with identical conference records.

Founded in 2023, EMU lacrosse had modest beginnings with a 2-14 record in its initial season. The team showed significant improvement in 2024, achieving a 7-8 regular season record and reaching 4-2 in the MAC, which led them to their first postseason as a third seed. That season ended with a narrow 12-11 loss in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, leaving their final record at 7-9. This year marks further advancement with the Eagles claiming their first league title and contributing to EMU's history of championships totaling 159, the highest within the MAC institutions.

The final match results, including University of Detroit Mercy's 9-7 victory over Central Michigan University, confirmed the lineup for the 2025 MAC Tournament. The event will take place on May 1 and 3 at Joe Walton Stadium in Moon Township, Pennsylvania. Robert Morris secured the top seed and hosting duties. They will play against fourth seed Detroit Mercy on May 1, at 1 p.m., followed by EMU, who is the second seed, facing third-seeded Akron at 4 p.m. The winners will proceed to the final on May 3 at 1 p.m. The tournament champion will receive an automatic qualification into the NCAA Tournament.
