The Eastern Michigan University (EMU) rowing team is set to host the inaugural Ford Lake Cup this Saturday, April 26. Events will take place at the EMU Rowing Course, located at Ford Lake in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Heats are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m., followed by finals at 1 p.m.

Spectators are advised to head to Ford Lake Park, located at 9075 S Huron River Drive, Ypsilanti, MI 48198. There will be a parking fee of $10. The rowing regatta is anticipated to feature participation from several universities, including Bucknell University, Delaware University, Duquesne University, High Point University, the University of Massachusetts, Temple University, and West Virginia University. This occasion will be the largest of its kind hosted by Eastern Michigan University, made possible by the new EMU Rowing Course's inception.

"In addition to Eastern, the regatta is expected to also include Bucknell University, Delaware University, Duquesne University, High Point University, the University of Massachusetts, Temple University, and West Virginia University."

Event attendees will receive free T-shirts while supplies last, and a QR code will be available on-site for accessing official results.

Recent highlights from EMU's rowing activities include the team's near seven-minute completion of a 2,000-meter course on April 5. Additionally, the Eagle's rowing team secured notable performances at the Doc Hosea Invitational on March 29. The mastery of EMU's 1V8+ team was seen as they qualified for the Grand Final with a time of 6:41.212.

"Winning is hard to put into words," said Head Coach Kemp Savage. Savage, along with student-athlete Lily Wilhelm, led the United States women's eights boat to victory at the World University Championships.

In the extracurricular realm, 18 Eastern Michigan University rowing student-athletes were recognized as National Scholar-Athletes by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association.

Additionally, the EMU rowing program has undergone enhancements, including the announcement of Lucie Roy as Assistant Coach, who joins the coaching staff following her tenure at Adrian College.
