The Mid-American Conference (MAC) has named Eastern Michigan University senior Bavake Sihota as a co-recipient of the MAC Golfer of the Week award. Sihota earned this recognition for his performance at the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate, held April 18-19 in Columbus, Ohio. This marks his first career top-five finish, as he led the Eagles to a sixth-place overall standing.
Sihota, from Caledon, Ontario, posted a score of 4-over 217 across three rounds (70-75-72), tying with Kent State University's Jordan Gilkison and Creighton University's Grent Feldman. Sihota's performance at the Intercollegiate was his second-best 54-hole score of the season, following his top score of 216 in March at the Bell Bank 'Pay It Forward' Intercollegiate. His fifth-place finish at the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate is a career-best, marking his first top 5, top 10, and top 20 finishes. The Eagles, aided by Sihota's performance, concluded the tournament 41-over 893 (297-296-300), securing victories over the University of Minnesota and Colorado State University.
This award marks Sihota's first career MAC Golfer of the Week honor and is the third such accolade for an EMU player this year. EMU’s Tim Chan received the award on November 1, and Daniel Robles Delval was honored on March 17.
Sihota and his Eastern Michigan teammates are set to compete in the 2025 MAC Championships from April 27-29 at the Pinnacle Golf Club in Grove City, Ohio. The event will be hosted by Bowling Green State University and will span three days, with competitors teeing off at 9 a.m. daily. The winning team and the individual champion will secure automatic berths to the NCAA Regional competitions.
