Eastern Michigan University (EMU) spirit programs have concluded a successful nationals season with impressive performances in two major collegiate competitions. The cheer team excelled at the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) College Nationals in Daytona Beach, Florida, while the dance team achieved strong results at the College Classic in Orlando, Florida.

In Daytona, the EMU Cheer team competed in the Intermediate Small Coed Division IA, achieving seventh place nationwide with a final event score of 90.9051. This marks a significant improvement from last year's 13th place. The Eagles ranked second among three Mid-American Conference (MAC) programs, surpassing the University at Buffalo. "The performance capped off a season of growth and resilience," stated interim head coaches Emily Watters and Gabe Pillen. The team showed precision and athleticism, overcoming a mid-year coaching transition to deliver one of its best national performances in recent years.

The EMU Dance Team stood out in Orlando, securing top-10 positions in both Division I Jazz and Hip Hop categories at the College Classic. In the Jazz division, Eastern secured seventh place out of 23 teams, ranking third among MAC schools, and impressive competition against Central Michigan University and Kent State University solidified their technical prowess and performance quality. In the Hip Hop division, EMU secured fifth place out of 13 teams, outperforming the University of Akron and the University of Toledo. Their energetic routine was noted for its synchronization and stage presence. "The 2025 season marked a strong step forward for the program," said Head Coach Tori Schuetz, who has led the team since 2023.

For those interested in EMU Cheer tryout information for the 2025-26 season, further details will be available on EMU Cheer and EMU Athletics social media channels. Similarly, updates about EMU Dance Team activities can be followed on their social media.
