Tracy Grollman was instrumental in Eastern Michigan University's lacrosse team's victory over the University of Akron, contributing eight points with five goals and three assists. Eastern Michigan, known as the Eagles, secured a 16-12 win. This match on April 20 at Scicluna Field was pivotal as it confirmed their place in the postseason for the second year in a row. Eastern Michigan's record now stands at 8-7 overall and 4-2 in the Mid-American Conference (MAC), while Akron holds a similar overall mark but is 3-2 in MAC play.
The game was fiercely contested, with Akron initially holding a lead after turning a 5-2 deficit into a 7-5 advantage. By halftime, Akron led 8-7. Post-intermission, the teams exchanged leads, but it was the Eagles who showed dominance in the fourth quarter, scoring five unanswered goals to secure their triumph.
Grollman's performance was crucial, with her achievements setting personal and program records. She tied for the fourth-highest single-game points total in the program's history, including scoring four consecutive goals—a feat she matched from a previous game in 2023. Emerson Henry and Annika Wozney also stood out, the former setting career highs in goals and draw controls, breaking a freshman record, and the latter tying a single-game record for caused turnovers.
Eastern Michigan’s win was significant, ensuring their participation in the 2025 MAC Tournament set for May 1 and 3. This victory broke previous single-season win records and tied their record for conference victories.
Looking forward, the Eagles will face Marquette University on April 25 for their final regular-season game. The match also doubles as Senior Day, with tributes planned for departing team members, including Grollman.
