The Mid-American Conference has announced its annual academic awards, with three athletes from Eastern Michigan University's women's basketball team being recognized as Academic All-MAC honorees. The recipients are Elena Cabello, Kyndal Lewis, and Olivia Westphal. This honor marks Lewis's third career accolade, while it is the first for Cabello and Westphal. With these additions, EMU's program has now accrued a total of 42 academic awards from the MAC.
To qualify for the Academic All-MAC honor, student-athletes need a minimum 3.20 cumulative GPA and participation in over half of the season's contests. First-year students and transfers are ineligible for this award.
Kyndal Lewis, from Belton, Missouri, earned her third consecutive MAC academic recognition. She played in 23 games during her senior year despite an injury, achieving a career-high 15 points against Central Michigan and a career-best 10 rebounds at Georgia State.
Elena Cabello, from Malaga, Spain, appeared in all 29 games for the 2024-25 season, starting in 20 of them. She significantly improved her scoring, securing 101 points, which is a 63-point increase from her previous season.
Olivia Westphal, from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, participated in 28 games, starting each one she played. Westphal emerged as the team's leading three-point shooter, scoring 60 three-pointers this season. Her performance placed her among the top 10 three-point shooters in the conference.
