The Eastern Michigan University (EMU) tennis team is scheduled to play its last match of the 2024-25 season against Ball State University on April 18, 2025, at the Foster Adams Family Tennis Complex in Muncie, Indiana. The match concludes the Mid-American Conference (MAC) play for both teams.

Neither EMU (11-11, 4-5 MAC) nor Ball State (10-9, 4-5 MAC) qualified for the MAC Tournament. However, both teams have a chance to finish tied for fourth in the final standings depending on the results of the other matches in the league.

In recent games, Eastern Michigan demonstrated strong performance on its home courts, securing wins against Northern Illinois and Bowling Green. These victories improved their record to 11-11 overall and 4-5 in the conference. EMU finished the home season with a 10-2 record. “The win over Bowling Green (April 13) not only gave the Eagles 10 home wins on the year, but it also marked the 50th victory for Ryan Kucera as a head coach,” the release noted.

The Eagles' doubles team, featuring Sabina Brichackova and Prerna Vichare, earned recognition for their performance by winning the MAC Doubles Team of the Week award for the second consecutive week. “The senior duo had a solid Senior Weekend as they dropped just two games in sweeping their opponents at No. 1 doubles,” it was stated.

The upcoming match against Ball State carries significant motivations for EMU. A victory would give EMU a third win against Ball State in a single season in program history and maintain their record of achieving back-to-back seasons with 12 wins and five or more MAC wins since the early 2000s.

Eagles' coach Ryan Kucera, returning for his second season, aims to improve the doubles team's success rate, which has seen considerable improvement under his guidance.

Ball State is coming off a 4-3 loss to Toledo and holds a 7-1 home record. Historically, Eastern Michigan leads the series against Ball State with a 34-15 record.

The EMU roster is diverse, featuring players from nine different countries, illustrating the global talent on the team. The match against Ball State also marks the return to Muncie for EMU graduate assistant Masha Polishchuk, who was a former standout player for the Cardinals.

Overall, while the match will conclude EMU's current season, it provides an opportunity for the team to end on a strong note.
