The Eastern Michigan University women's golf team completed their participation at the Boilermaker Spring Classic, held in West Lafayette, Indiana, on April 6-7. The EMU team finished in 10th place with an overall score of 38-over 902. This was just one shot behind Northern Illinois University, the team ranking in ninth place.
Julianna Go shone brightly for EMU, securing an eighth-place finish. Go distinguished herself by posting the best record of the tournament in terms of eagles, achieving four. Go stated, "San Juan, Philippines/St. Jude Catholic School/King put together one of the top tournament performances of my collegiate career." The Eagles finished ahead of two other Mid-American Conference teams, University of Akron and University of Toledo, in the standings.
Go's individual score of 219 tied for the 26th lowest in program history and saw her finishing ahead of notable golfers in the national standings, such as No. 52 Catherine Rao from Princeton University. Additionally, Savannah de Bock finished tied for 20th place, while the rest of EMU's players displayed a commendable performance.
The top performers from the tournament included Elise Fennell from Illinois State, who took first place with a score of 209, and Clara Gestsdottir from Denver, who finished second at 210. "Clara Gestsdottir said that the team was really proud of their effort," as stated by team officials. The University of Illinois clinched the team title in this competition.
Looking ahead, Eastern Michigan University is set to participate in the 2025 MAC Championships in Muncie, Indiana, on April 20-22. The tournament offers the winning team an automatic berth into the 2025 NCAA Regional Championships.
