The Mid-American Conference announced the weekly tennis awards on April 7, recognizing members of the Eastern Michigan University (EMU) tennis program. Daniella Shved was named the MAC Singles Player of the Week, and the duo of Sabina Brichackova and Prerna Vichare took the MAC Doubles Team of the Week honor. These represent the first awards of the season for Shved, Brichackova, and Vichare.
Shved secured the singles accolade after achieving a 2-0 record at No. 1 singles over the weekend. She managed a comeback against Audrey Moutama from the University of Toledo, winning 5-7, 6-2, 6-3, and subsequently defeated Esmee Andresen of the University at Buffalo with a 6-0, 6-2 victory.
Brichackova and Vichare excelled at No. 1 doubles, defeating Toledo's Neha Guru and Jacklynka Scholten 6-4, and Buffalo's Maria Glowacka and Jagmeet Kaur 6-3. These victories marked their 41st and 42nd career wins as a team. Individually, Brichackova reached 60 career wins, tying for 18th in EMU's history, while Vichare reached 58 wins, placing her 20th.
This doubles award is the second of the season for an EMU pair, following Iva Daneva and Viki Hazmukova's honor on January 27 after their performances at the University of Cincinnati and the University of Dayton.
The Eagles will host their final two matches this weekend at the Chippewa Club. On Friday, April 11, they play Northern Illinois University at 1 p.m. On Sunday, they conclude their home games against Bowling Green State University, after which the program will honor four seniors: Brichackova, Vichare, Marta Komar, and Lily Tria.
