The Eastern Michigan University (EMU) tennis team is set to travel for two important matches in the Mid-American Conference. They will face the University of Toledo on Friday, April 4, then move on to a match against the University at Buffalo on Sunday, April 6. EMU heads into these contests with an overall record of 9-9 and a conference record of 2-3, sharing a similar conference record with Toledo.

Ryan Kucera, leading the Eagles in his second year as head coach, sees his team achieving a home record of 7-2 this season, contributing to an impressive 18-2 home record over the past two seasons. The EMU team, consisting of ten players from nine different countries, is aiming to secure a spot in the MAC Tournament for a second consecutive year.

The upcoming matches are critical for the Eagles, who need to finish fourth or higher in the final MAC standings to qualify for the MAC Tournament in Toledo on April 24-25. Currently, four teams, including EMU, are tied for fourth place. Coach Kucera remarked on EMU's double success this season, stating "the team has captured the doubles point in 23-of-41 matches," highlighting their growth in doubles play since he took charge.

The match against Toledo will take place at the Twos Athletic Club, with the Eagles holding a historical lead in the series against the Rockets but having struggled in recent away games. On April 6, the Eagles will face Buffalo at the Miller Tennis Center. In previous meetings, the Bulls have led the series overall, but EMU broke an eight-match losing streak against them last April.

The achievements of the players, such as Sabina Brichackova's 113 combined victories, show the potential within the team. Additionally, Prerna Vichare's accomplishments place her among the top 20 for career wins at EMU.

Looking ahead, the Eagles are preparing for their final home matches against Northern Illinois and Bowling Green at the Chippewa Club, which are scheduled for April 11 and April 13.

The journey to secure a place in the MAC Tournament continues to be a focal point for the Eagles, who are aiming for consistent progress under Kucera's leadership.
