Cornell Brown has been appointed as an assistant football coach at Eastern Michigan University (EMU), confirmed Head Coach Chris Creighton. Brown, with over two decades of coaching under his belt, will take on the role of defensive tackles coach.

"We are excited to have found an expert defensive tackles coach who fits our culture here at Eastern Michigan," Creighton stated. "He will make us better. His vast experience, coupled with his recent experience in the MAC, is exactly what we needed. Coach Brown will make an immediate impact."

His defensive squad achieved notable accomplishments with 33 sacks and various tackles contributing to their disruptive play style. Brown played a vital role in the Falcons' defense, providing mentorship to players like Anthony Hawkins and Dontrez Brown.

Reflecting on his new appointment, Brown shared, "I am fortunate to be part of an established program like EMU. I am the winner here to join and accomplished winner in Coach Creighton and his staff that stands for everything I have prided myself on – respect, toughness, and excitement."

Brown's impressive career includes a stint in the Canadian Football League with the Calgary Stampeders in 2022, where he led the defensive line to numerous league successes. His coaching journey began at colleges such as Marshall University and Tarleton State, where his leadership skills flourished, helping various players achieve personal and team milestones.

His professional playing career includes seven years in the NFL, most notably with the Baltimore Ravens, with whom he won Super Bowl XXXV. His time at Virginia Tech solidified his reputation, earning him All-American honors and cementing his place as one of the school's standout players.

Brown holds academic credentials from Virginia Tech and is a member of both the Virginia Tech Sports Hall of Fame and the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame. Additionally, he has familial ties to the sport, with his brother Ruben Brown being a former Pro Bowl offensive lineman.
