The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team secured a second-place finish at the Mid-American Conference Championships held on March 22 in McGuirk Arena, Mount Pleasant, Michigan. The team achieved a score of 195.525 points, marking their second-highest performance this season.
Raisa Boris from Brooklyn Park, Minnesota finished second in the all-around and on bars. Abby Brushwood from State College, Pennsylvania placed second on floor while Kyrie Lowe from Lake Worth, Florida came third in the all-around competition.
Both Boris and Brushwood were named to the MAC Gymnastics All-Tournament Team. This runner-up finish is Eastern's best since they won the MAC Championship in 2021.
Central Michigan took first place with 195.725 points. EMU surpassed three other conference rivals ranked higher than them according to Road to Nationals' rankings.
In individual events, Boris led EMU with a second-place score of 39.075 in the all-around, highlighted by her 9.875 on floor exercise. Lowe followed closely with an overall score of 38.950 and a best mark of 9.800 on bars.
Eastern Michigan began their championship run on uneven bars where Boris scored a 9.825 for second place. Lowe and Keeley Kohler both earned scores of 9.800 as EMU started with a team total of 48.725.
On balance beam, Ella Chemotti and Katin Childress each scored a leading 9.800 for EMU's rotation total of 48.575.
After taking a break during rotation three, EMU returned strong in rotation four on floor exercise where Brushwood matched her career-high score of 9.900 points to lead the Eagles to a team-best event total this season of 49.300 points.
In their final event on vault during rotation six after another bye, Alana Fisher led with a score of 9.825 contributing to Eastern's highest vault score this season at 48.925.

Several student-athletes will proceed to NCAA Regionals between April 2-6 across four locations including Salt Lake City; Seattle; Tuscaloosa; and University Park leading up to NCAA Championships scheduled at Dickies Arena Fort Worth Texas April17-19 .
