The Eastern Michigan University baseball team secured a victory over Miami University in the final game of their three-game series, winning 19-12 at Oestrike Stadium. The match on March 22 saw Eastern Michigan's Logan Hugo lead the charge with an impressive performance, going 5-for-6 and coming close to hitting for the cycle.

Freshman pitcher Fischer Hendershot claimed his first collegiate win by striking out two batters in 1⅔ innings. Miami's Taylor Echols was credited with the loss. With this victory, Eastern Michigan improved its season record to 10-10 (6-3 MAC), while Miami fell to 12-11 (7-2 MAC).

Eastern Michigan's offense was robust, achieving 18 hits, including seven extra-base hits and two home runs from Hugo. Bruce Jellison also contributed significantly by going 4-for-5 with one double and two RBIs.

The Eagles managed to score in every inning except the third and sixth. After trailing early on due to a Miami home run, Eastern Michigan responded quickly with four runs in the first inning. A nine-run explosion followed in the second inning, highlighted by Hugo's three-run homer.

Despite efforts from Miami to close the gap, Eastern maintained control throughout the game. The Eagles' total of 19 runs is among their highest-scoring games under Head Coach Robbie Brittera.

"Eastern set season highs in runs (19), hits (18), RBI (18), and walks (11)," noted EMUEagles.com.

Logan Hugo’s six RBIs tied for second-most by an individual in the Mid-American Conference this season. He became one of only three players within the conference to achieve five hits in a single game this year.

Eastern Michigan now looks forward to facing Michigan on March 25 as they continue their season campaign.
