Eastern Michigan University's baseball team faced a challenging start to their home season, losing both games in a doubleheader against Miami University. The Mid-American Conference matches took place at Oestrike Stadium on March 21, resulting in Eastern Michigan's record dropping to 9-10 overall and 5-3 in the MAC. Miami improved to an 11-10 record with a 7-1 standing in conference play.

Junior infielder Devan Zirwas stood out by driving in seven runs across both games, including a career-high five RBIs in the second game.

In the first game, Miami quickly established a lead with a three-run homer in the first inning. Eastern Michigan responded with runs from Bruce Jellison and Ty Stecko, tying the score at three before Miami regained control with multiple home runs. Despite efforts from Stecko and others, EMU fell short with a final score of 14-11.

The second game saw Miami once again take an early lead. Eastern briefly led after Kevin Krill's home run but struggled to keep pace as Miami extended its advantage. Zirwas hit his fifth home run of the season during this match, contributing significantly to EMU's offense despite an eventual loss of 18-7.

The teams will conclude their series on March 22 at Oestrike Stadium.
