On March 17, 2025, the Eastern Insider podcast released a new episode hosted by Tom Helmer and Greg Steiner. The hosts discussed various topics related to Eastern Michigan University (EMU) athletics, including performances in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Basketball Tournament and upcoming events.

The men's basketball team faced Miami in a challenging game, while head coach Stan Heath's connection with his players was highlighted. Da'Sean Nelson spoke about Heath's influence beyond the court. Looking ahead, EMU aims for consistent appearances in Cleveland with potential returning key players. First-year women's coach Sahar Nuseibeh is gaining respect within the conference, with expectations that her team will become formidable once fully assembled.

Helmer and Steiner analyzed NCAA tournament brackets with diverse picks from Duke to Florida. Helmer’s daughter made an unusual prediction of Yale winning the tournament.

Lily Wilhelm, a senior rower at EMU, was featured for her remarkable journey from being cut from Butler's track team to becoming a top performer in rowing at EMU. "One of my coaches said that all competition is inherently unhealthy," Wilhelm stated on the podcast. Her transition involved significant training efforts which led to her setting a new 6K rowing record at EMU.

In baseball news, head coach Robbie Britt expressed enthusiasm about returning home after an extensive road trip. "We're just so excited," Britt remarked regarding their upgraded facilities and their upcoming match against Miami (OH). He acknowledged contributions from several individuals who supported these improvements.

Cheerleader Elena Davis joined Greg Steiner for another segment discussing her experiences during the MAC Tournament and her involvement with EMU Club Hockey as they prepare for Nationals. Davis also shared insights on March Madness predictions and encouraged students to attend upcoming baseball and lacrosse games.

The podcast provided listeners with updates on various sports teams and highlighted key figures contributing to EMU Athletics' success.
