Eastern Michigan gymnastics team narrowly defeats Ball State

Eastern Michigan University's gymnastics team secured a narrow victory over Ball State University with a score of 195.475 to 194.550 in Ypsilanti, Michigan. The win marked the end of a three-meet losing streak for Eastern Michigan, bringing their season record to 6-8.

Raisa Boris led the Eagles with an all-around score of 39.075, marking her sixth all-around win this season. Kyrie Lowe followed closely with a score of 38.375. "Boris' score was good enough for the best all-around score in the meet," highlighting her consistent performance throughout the season.

The competition began with the vault event, where Boris achieved a fifth-place finish scoring 9.750, while Abby Brushwood, Gwendelyn Cantu, and Alana Fisher tied for sixth place at 9.725 each.

In the uneven bars event, Kyrie Lowe excelled with a personal best of 9.900, earning her fourth individual win on bars this season. Keeley Kohler also set a personal best at 9.850, finishing second in this event.

On balance beam, Alana Fisher matched her career-high with an event-best score of 9.875 and claimed her second consecutive victory on beam. Boris came in second at 9.825.

The floor exercise concluded the meet with Brushwood and Fisher leading Eastern Michigan by both scoring 9.825.

Eastern Michigan will next compete at the MAC Gymnastics Championships in Mount Pleasant on March 22nd.
