Eastern Michigan falls short against Ohio State in non-conference baseball clash

Eastern Michigan University's baseball team faced a setback in their mid-week non-conference game against Ohio State, losing 13-7 at Bill Davis Stadium in Columbus. The game took place on Tuesday, March 11.

John Hale from Ashland City, Tennessee, was a standout for the Eagles with two hits and two RBIs. Ohio State's Gavin Kuzniewski secured the win, while Michael Pfeiffer from Brownsboro, Alabama, was tagged with the loss.

The Buckeyes started strong by scoring three runs in the first inning and added five more in the second. Eastern Michigan responded with two runs in the third inning through RBIs by Logan Hugo and Devan Zirwas. Ohio State extended their lead with additional runs in subsequent innings.

Connor Walsh and John Hale contributed to Eastern's efforts by driving in one run each during the fourth inning. The Eagles managed to score three more runs in the sixth inning due to an OSU wild pitch and an RBI from Cooper Vance and Hale.

Ohio State scored once more in the eighth inning, sealing their victory at 13-7. This result shifted Eastern's record to 7-7 overall while Ohio State improved to 5-9.

Notable performances included Logan Hugo's seventh multi-hit game of the season and Ethan LaPointe making his collegiate debut as a freshman left-hander. DJ Morand achieved a personal best with three strikeouts at NCAA Division I level.

John Hale recorded his sixth multi-hit game of the season, continuing his consistent performance. Devan Zirwas maintained his streak of reaching base safely for 13 consecutive games.

This match marked the 16th encounter between Eastern Michigan and Ohio State, leaving Eastern with a historical record of 5-11 against them.

The Eagles are set to continue their MAC play against Western Michigan from March 14-16.
