Eastern Michigan University's Maddie Porter has been recognized as the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Goalkeeper of the Week for the second week in a row. The announcement was made on March 11, 2025. Porter, known for her strong performance in goal, boasts a league-leading .507 save percentage.
During the past week, Porter contributed to EMU's split results with a victory over Butler University and a loss to the University of Cincinnati. In these matches, she averaged 8.5 saves per game. Against Butler, she recorded six saves leading to a 10-4 win, marking the program's fourth consecutive victory and setting a record for fewest goals allowed in a game by EMU. At Cincinnati, she stopped 11 shots, tying for the seventh-highest save total in EMU history.
Porter's career milestone was reached during the Cincinnati game when her third save made her the first player from EMU to achieve 208 career saves. This recognition marks Porter's third MAC weekly honor; previously, she was named MAC Defensive Player of the Week on April 9, 2024.
This season, Porter is unique in being the only player to receive back-to-back weekly awards from MAC. Her recent accolade is one of three honors received by EMU players this year, with Mackenzie Blackwell also earning recognition as MAC Offensive Player of the Week last week.
EMU will commence its MAC play against Robert Morris University on March 16 at Moon Township, Pennsylvania. The match will be available for streaming on ESPN+. This upcoming game marks their third consecutive meeting against RMU after previous encounters resulted in close losses for EMU.
