Eastern Michigan University football began its 2025 spring season on March 10 under favorable weather conditions. Head Coach Chris Creighton referred to the day as "Opportunity #1," marking the start of a series of 15 sessions aimed at laying a foundation for the upcoming fall season.

Creighton expressed enthusiasm about the day's conditions, stating, "It was gonna be awesome no matter what, but to be out here under sunny skies and 60-some degrees? It was phenomenal." He highlighted the energy and excitement present among both new players and returning leaders.

The first practice focused on fundamental skills such as route running and footwork. Creighton emphasized that these sessions are an extension of offseason training efforts. "Matt drills and the offseason build up to these 15 opportunities to get better," he explained. The Eagles worked through their base offensive and defensive schemes during a 20-period practice, with Creighton noting that learning takes precedence over physicality in early practices.

Defensively, discipline is a key focus for the team. "We have one goal defensively, and that's discipline," Creighton stated. On offense, changes are occurring within the offensive line and backfield leadership.

Senior offensive lineman Mickey Rewolinski shared his thoughts on getting back into practice mode: "Felt great to get back out here, knock some rust off." Under new coaching guidance, Rewolinski noted an emphasis on aggressiveness: "Honestly, it's the aggressiveness he brings — play hard, play fast."

Jaden Price also spoke about his role in leading by example during his final spring season. Reflecting on his motivations, Price said, "My faith in the Lord comes first. That gives me motivation to serve Him and others."

With only 14 practices remaining before their annual spring game on April 11, there is a focus on growth and unity within the team. Rewolinski commented on this goal: "For this four-week span, I think the biggest challenge is to grow, to become one."

As they progress through their schedule of practices leading up to April's spring game event, Coach Creighton's objectives remain clear: fostering discipline and building a cohesive team culture.

"Ultimately we're a team," Creighton concluded. "It's not just about competition or anger; it's about coming together — team first."
