Eastern Michigan University's tennis team achieved a clean sweep against Chicago State University with a 7-0 victory on March 8 at the Chippewa Club in Ypsilanti. The Eagles, now holding a 6-6 record, faced minimal resistance from the Cougars, who are currently 0-6.

Head Coach Ryan Kucera expressed satisfaction with the team's performance: "I am really proud of our team today. We played aggressive doubles and were strong on serve and return which set us up well. Chicago State fought really hard in singles, but we maintained our focus very well."

The match saw Eastern Michigan dominate both doubles matches with 6-0 scores. The team of Lara Diaz Zayas and Daniella Shved secured the point at No. 2 doubles, followed by Viki Hazmukova and Marta Komar's win at No. 1 doubles. Due to only four available players from Chicago State, the Eagles won the No. 3 doubles by forfeit.

In singles play, Hazmukova and Komar claimed victories by forfeit at positions No. 5 and No. 6, giving Eastern a quick lead. Lily Tria clinched the dual match at No. 4 singles with a perfect score of 6-0, 6-0. Further wins were added by Kseniia Saenko at No. 3 singles (6-0, 6-0), Regina Mendez at No. 2 (6-3, 6-0), and Daniella Shved at No. 1 (6-4, 6-1).

Looking ahead, Eastern Michigan will face Saginaw Valley State University on March 14 in Ypsilanti before beginning their Mid-American Conference play against Northern Illinois University on March 16 in DeKalb.
