The Eastern Michigan University women's golf team secured a sixth-place finish at the Gators Invitational in Gainesville, Florida. The team achieved a score of 31-over 871, surpassing three teams ranked within the national top 100 on the par-72, 6,002-yard Mark Bostick Golf Course at the University of Florida. This result lowered their previous school record for a 54-hole tournament.
Savannah de Bock was the standout performer for Eastern Michigan, tying for sixth place with a score of 1-under 209. This marks her sixth top-10 finish this season and is the second-lowest score in program history, just behind her own record of 204 set earlier in the season. Jessica Guiser from Florida claimed first place with a score of 4-under 206.
Mariana Vega tied for 21st place with a score of 7-over 217, marking her personal best and tying for the 14th-lowest score in program history. Riley Kim finished tied for 31st with an 11-over score of 221, improving on her previous best scores from earlier tournaments.
Other participants from Eastern Michigan included Erina Tan and Angelica Holman, who finished tied for 52nd and tied for 61st respectively.
Eastern Michigan entered the tournament ranked No.136 but managed to finish ahead of seven higher-ranked teams, including No.58 Michigan and No.81 Mercer. The team's total strokes set a new school record, surpassing their previous best at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational.
The Eagles will next compete at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational on March 17-18 at the UT Golf Course in Austin, Texas.
