Katin Childress delivered a standout performance for the Eastern Michigan University (EMU) gymnastics team in their recent competition against UC Davis and San Jose State on March 7. The event took place at the University Credit Union Center in Davis, California.
Childress achieved a personal best score of 9.875 on beam, which was also the highest score among all competitors in that category. This helped EMU accumulate a total score of 192.950 points. Kyrie Lowe also contributed significantly by tying for the top bars score with a 9.850.
Alana Fisher demonstrated consistent performances across multiple events, scoring 9.850 on beam, 9.825 on vault, and 9.775 on floor.
UC Davis secured first place with a total score of 196.025, while San Jose State finished second with 194.800 points. Despite finishing third overall, EMU achieved the second-best team scores in each event.
Raisa Boris led EMU in the all-around category with a total of 38.325 points, including a strong showing on floor with a score of 9.800.
In vault, Fisher's performance earned her second place with a score of 9.825, supported by solid performances from Boris and Abby Brushwood who scored at least 9.700 each.
On bars, Lowe won the event for the third time this season with her score of 9.850, while freshman Analiah Solorio matched her career-high of 9.800 for the third consecutive meet.
Childress' performance on beam was highlighted as she scored her career-high and claimed her first career event win with a score of 9.875.
On floor exercise, both Boris and Brushwood posted scores of 9.800 each to tie for fifth place.
The team now looks forward to their next competition against Sacramento State University on March 9.
